SC Knits aim is to create colourful, quality lifestyle products with a purpose. Using all natural biodegradable materials in all areas of the production line, from sampling to packaging, to reduce waste and harm to the environment.
With the ever expanding product range, we feel it is important to be aware of the environmental impact of production and product waste.
SC Knits always encourages their customers to regift and repurpose components, but we know this isn't always possible. Some of the factors we consider are listed below:

SC Knits always encourages their customers to regift and repurpose components, but we know this isn't always possible. Some of the factors we consider are listed below:
- SC Knits only uses sustainable, biodegradable materials in their products such as wool, cotton, linen and jute. Purchasing and sourcing from local suppliers where possible, to support UK businesses and reduce transportation mileage and postage costs.
- Yarn is carefully dyed in batches through minimal heat or solar dyed to reduce waste. Leftover dye pigment is reused, until the water runs clear. Some of the dyes in SC Knits products are chemical based, which are harmful to us and the environment. But we begin to shift away from these and experiment with homegrown natural dyes and foraged dye material to replicate the brightness chemical dye can achieve.
- Product off cuts, yarn scraps and waste cord from workshops are either added to the dye garden compost or used to create other products and packaging tags.
- SC Knits uses only cardboard gift packaging, boxes, shredded paper and card based business cards and swing tags. All can be recycled or reused.
