Process and Product Waste
SC Knits uses sustainable, biodegradable materials in their products such as wool, cotton,
linen and jute. Purchasing UK yarn and sourcing from local suppliers when they can, to
support local businesses and reduce transportation mileage and postage.
Yarn in dyed in batches to reduce waste and leftover dye pigment is reused until the water runs
clear. Unsuitable colour tests are either re-dyed or sold through SC Knits shop.
Off cuts and yarn scraps from finished products are recycled or reused into other products.
Waste yarn can also be composted, to create a base for a future dye plant garden.
SC Knits uses recycled gift packaging, boxes, shredded paper and recycled business cards
and swing tags. Pieces of yarn are also used as a ribbon alternative for gifting.
All products are dyed, knitted and knotted by Samantha,
from a home studio based in Bristol, UK.
A selection of products are available to view on the Product Range page and more
