Meet the Maker
SC Knits a colourful independent textile
business, based in Bristol, UK. Offering
hand-dyed, knitted, knotted and
felted lifestyle products using all natural
biodegradable material bases such as
cotton and wool.
Sam is the face and creator of SC Knits.
Which she founded after leaving
university, upon completing a Surface
Pattern degree.
Initially fascinated with machine knitting
and textile manipulation, Sam created a
small range of basic macrame plant
hangers and hand knitted hats, using
machine knitted cord. These successfully
sold online, which gave her the drive to develop small range of lifestyle products.
Realising she is more material and processed focused, Sam continues to experiment through colour and dye, allowing flexibility to develop a broader range of products for SC Knits.
In 2024, Sam was part of the Avon Wildlife Trust placement team in food growing and land management, based on their Grow Wilder site. Where she re-discovered her love for natural dyeing and growing. In 2025, she hopes to visit again and create a project of colour with their wild and companion plants.
The current SC Knits range includes pom pom and beaded earrings, mini macrame plant hangers and wall hangings, meditation pillows and reusable scrubbies. Sam also hosts community macrame workshops, with the hope to develop a programme to include various textile processes such as natural dyeing.
All products and graphics are designed and created by Sam, from her home studio based in Bedminster, Bristol.
