Natural Dye Garden
In 2025, Sam moved into a house with a big long overgrown garden, a greenhouse with a dodgy door and a shed full of tools...
It was a challenge indeed and after trimming back the overgrown bush line to allow for more growing space, it was time to demolish the rotten decking. Lots of the of the wooden boards were repurposed into raised beds for all the dye plants.
In her first season, Sam grew 10 dye flower varieties from seed, picking the heads, drying the flowers and collecting seeds throughout the season. With lots of successful bundle and dye tests, a new colour palette is emerging and has been added to a very limited range of products.
The wild dye garden continues to be a big project, with the moving of beds and creating a dedicated sunflower patch. New dye flowers are already flowering and the planting out of the next dye season is already upon us!
